Amanda E. Olagunju – Leveraging CAM to Treat Depression and Anxiety
Description
In this session, the evidence behind several complementary/alternative medication and non-medication treatments for adult depression and anxiety are discussed. Attendees walk away with the ability to employ such treatments as adjunct treatments to standard antidepressants and counseling/therapy.
Learning Objectives:
1. To understand the indications for, dosing of, and potential side effects of medicinal supplements in the treatment of depression/anxiety.
2. To come away with the ability to employ complementary/alternative non-pharmacologic treatments for depression/anxiety treatment.
The Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.
Grievance Policy:
All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance. Initially, all grievances should be directed to GOMA’s Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the CME Planning Committee. All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt. If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

Amanda E. Olagunju, DO, Capt, USAFFamily Medicine Physician, Langley Air Force Base Virginia.
Dr. Olagunju is an osteopathic Family Medicine physician who is also active duty within the U.S. Air Force. She received her residency training through a joint program between Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is currently stationed at Langley Air Force Base Hospital in Virginia, where she serves as the PCM to several hundred Air Force members. She has a special interest in mental health, which drives her research.
